Accessing and restoring your backups Print

  • 0

Every StackLinux plan includes free nightly backups — both cPanel account backups and full server snapshots. Here is how to access them and what to do if you need something restored.

What we back up automatically

  • Nightly cPanel backups — your website files, databases, and email.
  • Nightly server snapshots — a full image of your VPS, kept as an additional safety net.

You do not need to configure anything — these run automatically on every plan. Need a fresh snapshot taken right now (for example, before a big change)? Just open a ticket in the Backups & Snapshots department and we will take one on request.

Accessing backups yourself

  1. Log in to the client portal.
  2. Open your service (View Details) and click the Backup shortcut, or open cPanel and find Backup under the Files section.
  3. From the Backup screen you can download a full account backup or partial backups (home directory, databases, email) at any time.

Downloading a backup before making major changes to your site is always a good habit.

Restoring: the fastest path

Deleted something by accident, or a change went wrong? Open a support ticket in the Backups & Snapshots department and tell us:

  • What needs restoring (whole site, one folder, a database, an email account)
  • The date/time you want to restore from

We will handle the restore for you — this is included in your management, and it is usually faster and safer than a self-service restore. We typically respond within an hour.

Want extra protection?

Optional remote CDP (continuous data protection) backups — from nightly up to hourly — are available on request. Ask us if your business needs a tighter recovery window.
